Spring has only arrived and it's already starting to get unseasonably warm. This has me thinking about my summer style and wardrobe. I absolutely never know what to wear when it's so hot and humid. When it's that hot, I absolutely do not care about fashion, but only staying cool. I know it sounds bad and I should always care about what I wear, but it's nearly impossible to worry about when I'm sweating and beet red. Thankfully not all summer days are impossibly hot and humid. And summer evenings are great to coordinate outfits and accessories for dinner parties and drinks under the stars. Some summer evenings even call for a light sweater or a silk shawl. But to be honest, these past few days of humidity really have me wondering what I'm going to do this summer. Last summer was incredibly hot and I felt like I was constantly sweating. I find it difficult to believe that brands can't design clothing for muggy summer days and even evenings. Fabrics are either too light or too heavy. So my list for what I need this summer is growing. It started out simply with accessories, but now it's grown to clothing. It's not that I completely dislike shopping, but I do find it tedious and tiring.
Do you like shopping for accessories? If I have to shop, I find accessories departments a bit more tolerable than clothing. Racks and racks of clothes are boring to me and it doesn't matter if it's a high end or low end store. There is something fun about browsing smaller pieces such as earrings. It's so much easier to examine a pair of dainty earrings vs. holding up a bulky sweater. Perhaps it's the way accessories are displayed that makes them simpler to shop. Jewelry is in cases and you only need to bend over a bit to take everything in. Jewelry is also easy to shop for online. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings all photograph well and translate beautifully across different media platforms. A new pair of earrings are on the list for summer. I actually want a pair with a shell motif. I'm going through a gold period and really loving gold jewelry. A pair of gold bangles are on my list as well. My favorite department store carries a fantastic selection of jewelry. I have a personal shopper at this store and she holds back anything she think I may like. Just yesterday she texted me pics of new jewelry arrivals and of course I absolutely loved them. I will also be purchasing new handbags for summer. I have a soft spot for luxury designer handbags and I won't apologize for it. Summer calls for cute day bags in smaller sizes than winter and beautiful clutches for dinners and parties. I'll be able to buy all of my summer necessities at one store without having to run around to several different boutiques. My summer round up will contain mostly new jewelry and a selection of designer handbags.
